1. Nationality / Citizenship
A candidate must be either:
- A citizen of India.
- A subject of Nepal or Bhutan.
- A Tibetan refugee who came over to India before 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India.
2. Age Limit (As of 01-07-2026)
The general age bracket for RRB ALP is 18 to 30 years. However, the Railway Board provides significant relaxation for reserved categories:

3. Educational Qualification
Candidates must possess any ONE of the following qualifications to apply for the ALP post:
- ITI (Industrial Training Institute): Matriculation/SSLC plus ITI from recognized institutions of NCVT/SCVT in trades such as Fitter, Electrician, Instrument Mechanic, Millwright/Maintenance Mechanic, Radio & TV, Electronics Mechanic, Motor Vehicle, Wireman, Tractor Mechanic, Armature & Coil Winder, Mechanic (Diesel), Heat Engine, Turner, Machinist, or Refrigeration & AC Mechanic.
- Diploma: Matriculation/SSLC plus 3-year Diploma in Mechanical / Electrical / Electronics / Automobile Engineering.
- Degree: B.E. / B.Tech degree in the above-mentioned engineering streams is also acceptable.
4. Medical Standards (Vision A-1)
This is the most critical stage. Candidates who do not meet these vision standards will be disqualified immediately.
