The Department of Posts, Government of India has officially announced a mega recruitment drive for 23,757+ Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) posts, including Branch Postmaster (BPM) and Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM) / Dak Sevak across various postal circles nationwide. Selection for these posts is made purely on a merit basis calculated from 10th-standard marks, with no written exam. Eligibility Criteria, Age Limit & Pay Scale

Educational Qualification • Passed Class 10th (Secondary School Examination) from any recognized Board with passing marks in Mathematics and English.
• Compulsory study of the local language of the respective postal circle up to 10th standard.
Age Limit Criteria • Minimum Age: 18 Years | Maximum Age: 40 Years.
• Age Relaxation: OBC gets 3 years, SC/ST gets 5 years, and PwBD candidates get up to 10 years relaxation as per Central Govt rules.
Other Essential Skills • Basic knowledge of computer operations.
• Ability to ride a bicycle / scooter / motorcycle.
• Adequate independent means of livelihood for Branch Postmaster profile.
Pay Scale (TRCA) Branch Postmaster (BPM): ₹12,000/- to ₹29,380/- per month.
ABPM / Dak Sevak: ₹10,000/- to ₹24,470/- per month.

Selection Process & Merit List Generation

  1. No Entrance Exam: Selection is strictly based on the system-generated merit list calculated from 10th-grade percentage/CGPA.
  2. Automated Cutoff System: Circle-wise and community-wise merit lists will be published on the portal based on applicant choices and 10th marks.
  3. Document Verification (DV): Candidates selected in the merit list must present original educational certificates, caste certificates, and identity proofs at the allotted division office.

How to Fill India Post GDS Online Form 2026

  1. Visit the official portal of India Post GDS at indiapostgdsonline.gov.in.
  2. Click on "Stage 1: Registration" to generate your unique GDS registration number.
  3. Complete "Stage 2: Pay Fee" (if applicable) using online payment modes.
  4. Proceed to "Stage 3: Apply Online", select your postal circle, fill in 10th-grade mark details, and upload your photograph and signature.
  5. Choose your preferred division and select post options (BPM/ABPM) in order of preference.
  6. Preview all entered details carefully, submit the application, and save the printout for future reference.
