The Department of Posts (India Post) has officially announced the mega recruitment drive for 2026, inviting online applications for more than 38,000+ vacancies of Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS), Branch Postmaster (BPM), and Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM) across various circles in the country. This is the biggest opportunity for 10th-pass candidates as there is No Exam for this selection.

2. Eligibility & Criteria

  • Educational Qualification: Secondary School Examination pass certificate of 10th standard with passing marks in Mathematics and English conducted by any recognized board. Candidate must have studied the local language at least up to 10th standard.
  • Other Skills: Knowledge of Cycling and basic Computer handling is mandatory.
  • Age Limit (As on Last Date): Minimum 18 Years and Maximum 40 Years. Standard relaxations apply: OBC - 3 years, SC/ST - 5 years.

3. Selection Process (No Written Exam)

The selection will be done strictly on the basis of a system-generated Merit List. The merit list will be prepared based on marks obtained in the 10th standard (Matriculation) down to an accuracy of 4 decimals. No interview, screening, or written exam will be conducted.

  • BPM (Branch Postmaster): ₹12,000/- to ₹29,380/- per month.
  • ABPM (Assistant Branch Postmaster): ₹10,000/- to ₹24,470/- per month.

5. How to Fill India Post GDS Application Online

  1. Navigate to the centralized official dashboard: indiapostgdsonline.gov.in.
  2. Click on Step 1: 'Registration' to fill basic data and activate your registration number.
  3. Pay the application fee of ₹100/- online (All female, SC/ST, and PwD candidates are exempted).
  4. Click on Step 3: 'Apply Online', select your preferred Circle (e.g., Jharkhand, Bihar) and fill post preferences.
  5. Upload a clear photo and signature copy within the specified file limits.
  6. Submit and secure a hard printout copy of the application slip.
